“One Giant Leap”

This July marks the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing.

Just as in 1969, we are currently facing a set of challenges that feel insurmountable. Climate change, rising populism, growing social inequality – and with these all biting at our heels it feels timely to reflect back on the Apollo 11 mission and be reminded that even the hardest of challenges are surmountable.

To help us mark this occasion we will be playing Apollo 11 and Armstrong, two superb new documentaries which directly delve into the historic mission. Coming up in August our Philosophy & Film screening will be Duncan Jones’ outstanding modern classic Moon (2009). And our family-friendly film on 20th July, is Muppets From Space because, well, someone has to.

There are also screenings taking place across the city to mark the moon landing anniversary, including at the Hyde Park Book Club and The Reliance. For more details, visit MOON50LEEDS.
