A truffle hunter leaves his hermitic seclusion in the Oregon wilderness on a journey to the city in search of his kidnapped truffle pig. Writer/director Michael Sarnoski takes a simple revenge plot and carves out something truly surprising with a unique vision and tone that subverts revenge-flick expectations at every turn. Sarnoski manages to get a surprisingly restrained and tender performance out of Cage, and the freak-out you'd expect to see from him comes instead from the film's regular yet unexpected shifts. With echoes of Mandy and even Color Out of Space, this is definitely one for fans of Cage's recent work.
