Film description

Spike Lee’s acclaimed drama, which was nominated for the 1989 Palme d’Or, returns to the big screen.

Sal is the Italian owner of a pizzeria in Brooklyn. Neighbourhood local Buggin’ Out becomes upset when he sees that the pizzeria’s Wall of Fame exhibits only Italian actors. Buggin’ Out believes a pizzeria in a black neighbourhood should showcase black actors, but Sal disagrees. The wall becomes a symbol of racism, and on the hottest day of the year, hate explodes into violence.

Screened to coincide with the release of Spike Lee's latest film, BlackKklansman, showing at the Picture House from Friday 24th August.
