Film description

Nominated for an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film, Nadine Labaki’s Capernaum follows the journey of clever, gutsy 12-year-old Zain, who survives the dangers of the city streets by his wits. After fleeing from his parents, he asserts his rights by taking them to court, suing them for the crime of giving him life.

Made with a cast of non-professional actors playing characters whose lives closely parallel their own, Capernaum is a tribute to the resilience of the human spirit, that offers hope in the most unexpected of places.
